Browser extension

The Shifter browser extension routes your browser through Shifter proxies. Paste your Shifter API key, pick a plan and a location, and every page you open goes out through a residential or ISP IP. There are no proxy hosts, ports or usernames to type in.

It is listed in the browser stores as Shifter — Proxy & VPN. For an overview of what it does, see the browser extension page.

The extension is available on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons. Open the store page for your browser, add it, then follow the install steps to connect your plan.

  • Connects with your API key. The key comes from your Shifter profile. It is stored only in that browser and sent only to Shifter’s own API.
  • Lists your plans. Every active Residential Proxies and ISP Proxies plan on your account, with its traffic left and renewal status. Switch between plans at any time.
  • Picks a location by pool. Country, state, city and ASN on Full Geo, country on Country Geo, random worldwide IPs on Non-Geo.
  • Controls the IP session. Keep one IP for a while (Sticky IP) or get a fresh one on every request, and rotate on demand.
  • Uses your ISP IPs. Choose any static IP from an ISP Proxies plan.
  • Blocks WebRTC leaks. On by default, so sites cannot see your real IP through WebRTC while you are connected.
  • Checks the exit. After connecting it shows the exit IP and country, checked on IP Info.
  • Checking localized prices, search results and ads from another country or city.
  • QA of geo-specific pages before a release.
  • Managing accounts from one stable IP with a sticky session or an ISP IP.
  • Quick manual checks before you automate the same job through the gateway.
